Dear Juniors,
 
 How many times have you thought how good it would be to have a real, big teddy bear with whom you could play, share your secret wishes, be close to when you are afraid, that you could cuddle and take care of. You must have wanted to see bears on TV or in the papers more often.
 Do you know that Croatia is among the last countries in the world that has the stable population of brown bears?
 
 Unfortunately, the Croats aren’t doing everything they could to protect them. The number of bears that die on the streets grows because of the increasing traffic. It is estimated that there are between 600 and 1000 bears. Bear hunt is allowed but poaching causes serious consequences. The estimated age for bears is only five years, although in nature they can live more than twenty years. It is sad to think about the king of the woods running away whenever it sees people. It shouldn’t be afraid of us, almost everyone has grown up with its teddy bear, the bear that likes honey, the one that cannot be replaced.
 
 The decision about founding The Association of Teddy Bear friends was signed by seven founders from the Split-Dalmatian and Zadar County in December 29, 2oo5.

The purpose of founding it was to promote the idea of preserving the ecological cleanliness of our planet and to establish the conditions for survival of all living species especially bears and Mediterranean fur seal being animals at the top of the feeding range as well as to co-ordinate with similar organisations and associations abroad.
 
 Teddy Bear is registered in the Croatian Associations Book of Register under the 17OO2574 register number. The residence of the Association is in Split, 37 Vrlička street .
 
 In order to fulfil its aims Medo Brundo (Teddy Bear) cooperates with other similar organizations, and with governmental and non governmental associations and educational institutions. The cooperation is based on the contract with the Velebit’s association Kutarevo.
